Breast Cancer Awareness Benefit and Holiday Boutique Fundraiser

Commuknity is proud to sponsor an evening in support of Breast Cancer Awareness again this year, through our Breast Cancer Awareness Benefit Evening and Boutique on November 10th 7-10pm. It is sure to be a fun-filled evening of shopping for handmade gifts by local artists and jewelers. We will also have an informal fashion show of saleable fiber artwear as well as delicious desserts and espresso drinks to indulge in. It is a wonderful way to support this year’s chosen charity, Living Beyond Breast Cancer.   LBBC is a national non-profit organization dedicated to supporting women at all stages of diagnosis and treatment for breast cancer. The organization includes education and support programs that address women's medical, psychological, emotional, legal and financial concerns. LBBC offers specialized resources for women from diverse ethnic backgrounds, young women those newly diagnosed as well as those with advanced stage breast cancer. They also offer supportive programs for caregivers and healthcare providers assisting those with the disease. All programs are offered at no or low fee. Net proceeds from ticket sales for our event will benefit LLBC. Tickets are $35.00 in advance, $40.00 at the door. You can Purchase Tickets Online with your Visa or Mastercard. We hope you will come to support this worthy cause and dynamic organization.

Karen Lilly, the Artist
Karen Lilly is that rare bird, a California native, who has nested all of her life in this state.  Born and raised in Turlock, she married Gene and moved off to San Jose where they lived happily for the next 29 years.   There she taught English at Cupertino High School until 1997 while taking advantage of art classes in the Bay Area.  In 1998 they oversaw the completion of their new home in the outskirts of Nevada City.  Always an avid outdoor lover and sportswoman, Karen tries to bring her love of nature into her studio, combining the best of both worlds.   Karen’s work has been accepted into Explore This! 3 Experimental Colored Pencil Exhibitions International Competitions in 2005, 2003, and 2001.  Her work also appears in Colored Pencil Exploration, published by North Light Books in 2003.   Collectors find Karen's work at shows in Homewood, Northstar-at-Tahoe, Mammoth Lake and the Gold Country.
